press release 12 February 2016

The 2016 Tasmanian kart season kicks off this weekend with Round 1 of the Andrew Walter Constructions Tasmanian Statewide Series.

The Circular Head Kart Club with the support of WT House Beta Home Living have been working overtime to have the complex spick and span for the opening round of the series. Round 1 is also a round of the Tasmanian Karter of the Year series and has attracted a heath entry list of 92 competitors.

Circular Head Kart Club  member Logan Dixon will be one of the locals keen to get on the track this weekend after his move from Cadet 12 to KA4 Junior Light in the off season.

Dixon will have some tough competition from Launceston Kart Club member and winner of the KA4 class at the resent Twilight Thunder meeting in Tyson Phegan. Lochie Dalton will also be out to impress after competing in round 1 of the Australian Kart Championship at Dubbo, NSW last weekend.

Jesse Keeling  and fellow Southern Tasmanian Kart Club members Campbell Whelan and Fletcher Bellars look to be the top contenders in Cadet 12, whilst Little brother Darcy Whelan will take on Launceston Kart Club members Ollie Richardson and Toby Callow in Cadet 9.

TaG 125 Light and TaG Restricted Heavy are the two classes with the biggest fields for the weekend with a host of drivers able to take the win in either class.

Leading the TaG Light field will be defending champion Nathan Zuj, but he will be up against it with the likes of Jade Waddington and Brad Hobden in the field.

TaG Restricted Heavy also boasts a good field of beginners with a few seasoned campaigners in the mix for top honours come Sunday afternoon. Brody Lovett, Troy Sheahen and Shane Toon are all capable of winning.

Karting Tasmania hopes that the 2016 season kicks off in style at the Circular Head Kart Club this weekend and wishes all competitors the best of luck in the series.

Karting Tasmania also would like to thank Andrew Walter for his support of Karting Tasmania and the Statewide Series.
