press release 3 December 2015

Jake Donaldson has been given the incredible opportunity to race for the Sydney based Formula Ford team Listec Race Cars for the 2016 Season.

New South Wales based Jake has always loved Open wheel race cars and knows driving the teams Formula Ford will be a challenge for the young star. He has always thrived on taking on a challenge and will treat this next step in his career no differently.

From a young age Jake and the team’s focus has always been about the end result and thanks to Karting Australia and the level of competition that Jake has raced at since he was seven years old, he now feels that he is ready to accept this new challenge.

Listec Race Cars have been involved in Formula Ford since 1978 winning NSW series in 1978 (Kent) class and in 2010 (Duratec) class . The current Listec WIL-013 that Jake will drive holds the lap record for Formula Ford for the Brabham circuit at SMSP and has had multiple wins in the recent past.

Speaking with team owner Paul Liston, we asked him his thoughts about Jake joining his team.

“I have always followed Jakes career, the decision to give him a drive was made probably five years ago and I am pleased the driving age for NSW racers has now been lowered. I have always been impressed with the Donaldson Motorsports attitude and Jake's forceful driving style.  The speedway and kart racing has taught him the ability and importance of overtaking and pushing forward. I fully expect Jake to be competitive in his first year of Duratec Formula Ford racing and look forward to the 2016 season.”

Jake has had a great career in karts and I asked him how he felt about joining Listec and his chances next Season.

“I’ve been working with LISTEC RACE CARS the past 3-4 months and have become familiar and comfortable with the team. I believe they can give me a good chance to further my career in motorsport and be a part of my future success. I want to become a successful race driver and appreciate having a strong bond between the team and myself. I feel as though it will have a big impact on how I perform in the future and I believe I can succeed with LISTEC RACE CARS”.

Jake Donaldson racing manager Scott Donaldson believes that the time is right for Jake to take the next step.

“Jake has won everything he has set his mind on since starting karts, and I’m confident that he will succeed in Formula Ford. Paul and the Team at Listec are a great bunch of guys and we are proud to be associated with people like them”.

Jake will get his first chance in the Listec Formula Ford with testing in January. The NSW State Championship kicks off at Wakefield in early March, then off to Sydney Motorsport Park in April. Jake and the team will also have the chance to take on the National Series drivers at two of the National rounds midyear with free to air TV coverage of those events.
