  • Former Superkart champion Jason McIntyre has been featured in the Cranbourne Leader, urging people to become organ donors. The 37-year old is on the waiting list for a multi-visceral transplant (stomach, liver, duodenum, pancreas and small bowel) but those plans have been scuppered for the time being due to various cancers he's had to endure. “All of this has put my transplant ambitions on hold for the moment, but even if I never get the benefits I dream of from them, I hope others will,” McIntyre said. “There’s not much I won’t do to help publicise the need for greater organ donation in the community.” The McIntyre family were regulars in Sprint karting for many years before switching to Superkarts. • While one Flying Dutchman confirms he'll be here for Race of Stars, the other has announced his retirement. Joey Hanssen will make his last start as a driver at the final round of the Dutch Championship this weekend. "Being so busy working and racing every weekend, week in week out, I have decided to end my racing career this coming weekend" he wrote on his website. "The reason is very simple; Im 24 years old and I want to chase other dreams and goals. I’m a very happy man at the moment with a lot of work, but it's getting too much to also race myself. I will miss it for sure but to me it's a step forward in life. I will still be doing my own testing and so on, so you will see the 40 kart arround!" Joey started karting in 1995 and spent 10 years aboard KZ gearbox machinery. A couple of those years were spent in Australia, driving for the Lenzo Kart team and then Shamick Racing (on CRG). He won back-to-back KZ2 CIK Stars of Karting Championships in 2013 and 2014.
