  • Oscar Piastri had planned to contest the Junior KF World Championships at La Conca, Italy, but has confirmed that he won't be competing due to a problem with his entry. "I'd like to thank everyone at Karting Australia, CAMS and IAME who tried their best over the last week to help me out especially, Remo Luciani, Craig Denton, Mick Doohan, Eugene Arocca and everyone else that lobbied CIK-FIA on my behalf. I really appreciate it" he wrote on Facebook. "I will also not compete at the X30 World Final later this year as we begin the search for a new team and make our plans for next years racing season. I really want to thank my mechanic Alex Baten for the great year. We had some great results, a few mistakes and some bad luck, but we always had great speed and we worked together."

  • Australian Motoring Enthusiasts Party Senator Ricky Muir has outlined the great economic and social benefits of motorsport in Australia and called for further Government support. More on the inpitlane website, including video of Muir's (and others) Upper House speach, HERE.

  • David Sera was back behind the wheel yesterday, testing his Deadly KZ at Todd Rd in preparation for Race of Stars. "Overall it was a productive day getting back behind the wheel of a KZ kart after close to a year" Dave wrote on Facebook. "We made some minor adjustments to the front end of the kart which helped the overall grip. We're confident we haven't lost any speed from last year."

Black plates will still be awarded to the class winners which they can use on their kart in their class for the next 12 months.

  • Concerns have been raised about the future layout of the Bolivar karting facility in Adelaide. Adeladienow.com.au report that work is approved to start on the 'Northern Connector', a "crucial $985 million Adelaide road link". Thing is, it gets mightly close to the kart track! Will there be enough room for runoff at the hairpin? Major construction will commence in May next year with the project expected to take nearly five years to complete. Read more HERE.

  • Meanwhile in NSW, more noise is being made about the proposed international spec kart track at Mount Panorama, Bathurst. And it's good noise - Council approval! (more about that on abc.net.au HERE). This sketch of a possible configuration on the allocated land surfaced on social media recently. Not too sure about the proximity of that house...

  • Ballarat Kart Club is another Victorian club struggling to get race numbers and is trying to work out how to get people back to the grass roots level in 2016. They're surveying club members to see what brings them to the track and what turns them away. "We want to know how to get more people to club days in 2016" the club wrote on Facebook. Ballarat members who complete the survey get $10 off their September or October club day entry fee. The survey is open to Ballarat members and any guest who ran a club day at Haddon Park. Feel free to have a read of the survey - click HERE.
