Superkarts Return to Broadford

The Victorian Superkart Club made a long awaited and welcomed return to the Broadfrod Road circuit on September 29 for Round 5 of the 2015 Club Series.
The track is part of the extensive State Motorcycling Sports complex located 88 km north of Melbourne on Strath Creek road. Owned and operated by Motorcycling Victoria, the site contains a variety of eight tracks suited primarily to Motorcycling.

The road circuit is 2.16km in length over undulating terrain making it a perfect mini Bathurst for Superkarting.
Extensive garage facilities can be found in the fully sealed paddock area and the site can also host overnight camping when and if required.
A small and enthusiastic group braved the chilly conditions to write a new chapter of club history. The big gearbox karts were represented by Anton Stevens and Raff Pironti, the rest had just come off a State Championship round and were no doubt preparing for Round two of the Australian Championship at Phillip Island in September. Both Anton and Raff were having a fun day of it by just running in fresh motors and practising passing moves.

In the 125 Gearbox class, Jarrod Lethborg took home the win ahead of Ian Branson and Lee Filliponi. Ian (from the Ringwood Kart Centre) was having his first drive of the 125 opens and came away smiling after setting a lap record for the class.
In Stock Honda, it was newly crowned National Champion Juzzy Ford who made a clean sweep of the day and setting the outright fastest lap ahead of Craig Edwards and Jamie MacDonald. Nathan Pryor, who had a big off at the Island two weeks ago, came out during the try drive sessions to ensure his kart would be right for a return in our final race for the year.

In Non Gearbox Light (Rotax) the racing was close and keen with Russ Occhipinti, Peter Strangis and Tim Clarke fighting it out, the circuit clearly being ideal for the NGB Class.
In Non Gearbox Heavy (Rotax) it was Rod Clarke who dominated in the slippery conditions, as every session of the heavies was accompanied by a light shower of rain, ahead of Mario Florio and Alan Dodge from NSW.
