Willo Hangs Up the Helmet

  3 August 2015

Victorian karter Adam Willison has retired from the driving seat.

"It has been the biggest part of my life for the last 13 or so years and very hard to let go, but life is presenting new challenges and opportunities and something has to give to make way for the future" he said via social media.

'Willo' started karting in 2003 and enjoyed podiums at the 2010 and 2011 Nationals, a Victorian Closed Title (2010) plus pole positions and podiums at the top level in the CIK Stars of Karting series in KF2.

"I have been so lucky to receive the support I have from family and friends, none more so than Geoff Willison. Without him I could not have achieved anything that I have, Heather Torr who has been a massive support over the last few years, Robbie Morton of Brisk Spark Plugs Australia who has put in so much effort into my racing in the last 10 years, taking time away from his own family to help me, and INOX Lubricants for their many many years of sponsorship.

"Many more people to thank, like Anthony Bartolo for his years of engine work, Jordie Ford for many great years of fun and friendship, Adam Graham from Energy Corse Australia, the guys at Tony Kart Australia earlier in the piece, Remo Luciani for giving me a car (actually, it was won in a raffle! See old article from 2009 Leopard Final HERE) and all the many friends I have made through the years. Special mention to people like Aaron Rintoul and others who helped me go racing when my gear was stolen."

Willison will soon head overseas with his girlfriend, heading to Finland to see what life has to offer in that part of the world.

When (if?) he returns, maybe he can get a gig as a karting photographer? (see yesterday's post)
