Armstrong Positive Ahead of Euro CIK-FIA Final

  21 July 2015

Young Christchurch karter Marcus Armstrong will be back behind the wheel of his works Tony Kart at the final round of this year's European CIK-FIA Championship in Sweden this weekend.

The 14-year-old multi-time New Zealand champion has shown front-running pace and race craft in the WSK Series in Italy earlier in the year and at the two previous European CIK-FIA rounds and is looking at this weekend's final to deliver on that promise.

"This weekend will be interesting, " he said on Tuesday. "The track is fantastic, the layout is great with some chicanes but slightly slipperier than most other circuits in Europe.

"The official test was there a couple days ago, and everything was very positive.

" I'm hungry to go back to the position we were in three months ago in the WSK."

Armstrong qualified 24th and finished 19th in the KF class Final at the opening round of the European CIK-FIA championship in Portugal in May, and after three top five finishes in the heats got as high as sixth in the Pre-Final at the second in Great Britain last month before a clash with another driver put him back to 23rd.

From there he improved to claim a hard-won 17th in the Final.
