Karting News Briefs

  24 June 2015

  • Looking to have a shakedown run at Eastern Creek in race conditions before the Rotax Pro Tour / JR Memorial event at the venue next month? Rotax Light, Rotax Heavy and DD2 will run at this weekend's North Shore club round, in conjunction with the TAG Light/Heavy class. IKD advise that DD2 will run at the front of the TAG Light/Heavy field, while Rotax Light and Rotax Heavy will run amongst the TAG Light/Heavy field. Junior MAX will also run as a standalone class. The weekend's timetable is HERE.

  • The tradition of the annual City of Melbourne Titles, an event that's been run for 30 years, has ended. Well, not entirely, but the name of this long running race meeting has been forced to change due to Karting Australia's treatment of non-championship events, no longer allowing the word "Title" in the meeting's title. As such, this year's 31st running is officially named the "City of Melbourne State Cup". It is open to all KA licence holders, is offering 12 classes, and the Supp Regs are now out - download them HERE!

  • With his university studies complete, Arrow Karts pilot Ben Stewart is heading to the USA to work with American Arrow distributor, KartSport North America. Ben will compete in the WKA Manufacturers Cup Series, and the SKUSA Pro Tour. He'll head for the US immediately after round 3 of the Australian Kart Championship at Ipswich next month.

  • On-board video with Rick Dreezen has he demonstrates the 2016 CIK-regulation direct-drive OK engine from IAME on a Ricciardo Kart at PF International. It sounds great! (However, wasn't noise reduction one of the issues the KF spec is/was addressing??)

  • Videos from the South Australian State Kart Championship round at Bolivar on the weekend, produced by Kart Action Media:

  • Message from Oscar: "Round 2 of the CIK Euro Champs is over and unfortunately I just missed a place in the final by 0.1s. I finished 7th place in the repecharge starting from 14th. It was a tough race and I dropped back to 16th but then made my way thru the pack to 7th. I just need one or two more corners to get to 6th but unfortunately the laps ran out. Hopefully next round will see an end to the bad luck. I'd like to thank my team Ideal Karts Frank and Alex, HP Tuners, IAME engines, Remo Racing, Kosmic and my family for supporting me."
