  • Vale: Ian White. Sadness has struck the karting community with the news that long-standing Victorian member and official Ian White, 55, lost his life in a car accident on Monday, May 26. A memorial service to celebrate Ian's life will be conducted at 11am Wednesday 3rd of June at Cobden Civic Hall, 53 Victoria Street, Cobden.
    • "Our deepest sympathy to his wife Lana and family and also to Russell White our VKA President and his family. RIP Ian your life was cut way too short" - Victorina Karting Association

  • With the 2015 Tasmanian Kart Championships now open to mainland competitors, the Launceston Kart Club has advised the Spirit of Tasmania has a special offer that applies across the period of the State Championship (Nov 20 to 22) with a cost to travel to the island state with a vehicle of $598 return. The sale ends on the June 27. The club is working hard to have the sup regs released as early as possible to give interested competitors time to make their travel plans.

  • With the overwhelming success of Race Monitor at the National & Australian Series, Ipswich Kart Club has indicated it will use Race Monitor at the next club day meeting.

  • One of our Tasmanian contributors, Johnathan Males, has been in the sport for a long time (his words!), but witnessed a first at Highclere's State Wide Series round recently. "After making a promise that he’d propose if he ever won a state title, Daniel Hinds came good at presentations and proposed to long-time partner Renee Chettle" said Males. "The crowd was in raptures and the rest of presentations struggled to match that effort!"

  • Braydon North has been announced as part of the growing Haase Karts Australia / AMR Kartsport team. North will join Justin Francis in the Clubman Light and KA1 classes. "It's exciting times for us and the signing of Braydon adds to that excitement" said team director Adam Macrow. Adam Fletcher from Haase Karts Australia added "the signing of Braydon North is a real step forward in our development as a team and we couldn't be happier."

  • Karting Australia has announced that Jim Seath, Heath Butt, Rod Williams, Noel Judd, Mike Robotham, Dom Tomich, Graham Powles and Robert Morton make up the inaugural Vintage Karting Committee. The committee is empowered to make recommendations to the KA Board concerning Vintage Karting participation at Club, State, National and International event level within Australia. Responsibilities include reviewing the way in which parade and multi-kart demonstration events are conducted; to develop an operational framework for events that is appropriate for Club, State and National level; to recommend modifications while maintaining the classes or eras of Vintage karting; to produce an annual Calendar of Events of Vintage Karting.

  • "RACE and CONQUER" is the slogan for this years’ Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals that will take place in Portimão, Portugal from November 8 to 14.   • Kartlink report that the PFi circuit in the UK will host the first public glimpse of the all-new 2016 CIK ‘OK’ Engine. A demonstration of the engine is planned on both the Saturday and Sunday at the CIK-FIA European KF & KFJ Championships at the venue on June 18-21.

  • Karting Australia's Vortex Mini Rok Homologation document has been updated to incorporate a number of clarifications. A PDF of the latest version can be found HERE.

  • Golden Power Series round 2 in Morwell on June 13-14:


  • "Tassie’s Fastest Ladies", a pit crew made up of Tasmanian kartes, crewed for Ruth Bowler's Aussie Racing Car at the Tasmanaina V8 round. "It was a fantastic weekend for the kart girls with hands-on experience in the ARC pits. We could not get them out of the car and everyone was busy" advised Eammon O’Connor. "We had a great meeting again with Betty, Daniel and Lynn from Erebus V8 who spent time talking to the team. The girls really saw the ins and out of the ARC. Lots of positives from the weekend and hopefully (we will) have a few of the team involved at Bathurst. A video of Racer Ruth is on the ARC site HERE.

  • The ASN for Canada recently re-published a "cheating" document outlining the health risks of compounds it noted as some of the most common chemicals used by cheaters to treat fuel and/or tyres - Benzene, Xylene and Acetone. Read the PDF HERE.

  • Do you have one of those RC 'drones'? Don't take it near a CAMS race track! Speedcafe reports that the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport has warned against the unauthorised use of ‘unmanned aircraft’ at motorsport events, citing concerns over safety and privacy. The devices allow video recording of spectaular overhead shots and have been used by many people at kart tracks to capture great views of the venue and the racing. However, CAMS is currently drafting regulations to control their use. There has been no mention of karting. Yet. Read the full article HERE.

  • FA Kart has almost caught Arrow in the chase for the Karting Australia Manufacturers Championship. A strong performance by James Sera at Monarto's round 2 (Sera claimed victory in KA1 and finished a close second in X30), plus good showings by Luke Marquis and Morgan Feast pushed the Italian-made chassis up the rankings. The Arrow Karts team also enjoyed significant success with Scott Sorensen dominating KF2 plus Cory Arnett and Cooper Murray on the podium in KA Junior.

  • Toowoomba Update - Racing will take place on 19 July which will be the grand opening of the new track. The bitumen component of the track upgrade is finished but there's a lot of work to get the edges & tyres finished. Working Bees are on Saturday 6 June and Monday the 8th (no working bee on Sunday the 7th). The club will do a sausage sizzle and free drink at the end of the day for the helpers.

  • We hear there is a bunch of WA KZ karters planning to head to Hidden Valley for the NT Championships - some transport and accommodation options are said to be announced shortly along with the prize money on offer for the KZ3 class.

  • Two-time national speedway kart champion, Peter Archer, has teamed up with engine builder Dave Van Schaik, known for his race winning “VSR” sprint kart engines. In 2014, Van Schaik was introduced to Archer by karting legend, Mike Hazelton. In the months that followed, his association with Archer grew and a keen interest in speedway developed. In fact, Van Schaik has now developed a Yamaha KT100S for the KT Modified class, allowing Archer to move up from the Clubman category in his Phillip Farrow Racing entry.
