  • Entries are now open for Rotax Pro Tour round 4 at Warwick's Sandy Creek Raceway next month. Supp Regs and other information for the round is on the Rotax Event page HERE. Entries close May 31st!


  • People putt-putting around on rental karts is not what we cover here on KartSportNews. But when a bunch of old far...err, Go Kart Legends, hit the hire kart track, it's actually pretty good viewing! "Battle of The Legends" round 4 for Queensland, held at The Big Kart Track recently.   • The "Chain Challenge" has begun! WA karter Lee Foster posted this pic of a new kart chain on Facebook with the text "I think my new chain is trying to tell me something... #cockburn #outofthebox" So, we're now handing out - for free - some random sets of KartSportNews sticker packs to Facebookers who can meet "The Chain Challenge". Can you configure your kart chain to represent the layout of your local race track? The condition is, you need to post a pic of your chain, plus a pic of your track (like below), mention/tag your club/track and tag a mate in a Comment on the post on Facebook HERE. We will contact the winners to arrange for sticker delivery in a few days time. Get to it!



  • The UK Anti-Doping Commission turned up at the race track during the recent Super One Series round at Shenington. It was a bit of a wake-up for competitors and urine samples were taken from the top three drivers in one of the Senior Rotax heats. “We will be performing tests at several championships this year at various venues, levels and disciplines and across various age ranges” said MSA Anti-Doping Officer, Jen Carty. “As part of the MSA’s Anti-Doping Programme, the MSA will be working with UK Anti-Doping to carry out random urine testing and alcohol breathalyser testing with testing and education becoming more prevalent in the sport.”

  • Karting Tasmania, in conjunction with the Launceston Kart Club, has advised that the 2015 Tasmanian State Championship will be open to mainland competitors. That’s right - mainland competitors can travel across the ”little ditch” and compete for a coveted Blue Plate. The Tasmanian Championship is set to take place over three days, November 20 to 22, at Archerville Raceway. The Launceston Kart Club has commenced work on the supplementary regulations, which will be released as soon as possible.

  • Scott Pye is yet another V8 Supercars driver to acquire a kart in recent times, picking up this CRG KZ2. "Can't wait to get it to the track!" he wrote on social media.


  • The Rotax National Series points for the Rotax Heavy class have been amended. "These have been corrected to include the true results of competitor Regan Payne, following his reinstatement by Karting Australia earlier this month" IKD advised. The updated PDF for Rotax Heavy is HERE.



  • Project X trading hours for this week (due to split duties across the Australian Championships and Ipswich falling on the same weekend). William Yarwood will be with the National Race team at the Australian Kart Championships in Monarto from Thursday. He is still contactable throughout the weekend via mobile or email. The ProjectX Race Support van will attend the Ipswich Club meeting from Friday afternoon and all day Saturday - feel free to go see Dave for your race parts. The shop hours are as follows until we return to normal on Tuesday - Thursday: 10am to 5pm. Friday: 9am to 3pm. Saturday: Closed.

  • Australian motorsport apparel and safety equipment retailer, Revolution Racegear, has partnered with the 2015 Australian Kart Championship presented by Jayco and Castrol EDGE. The partnership will see a further $10,000 in prizes distributed at the end of the Championship including six Bell RS7-K Helmets and Alpinestars racing suits and accessories. "We see the new platform of the Australian Kart Championship as a great opportunity to get involved in the sport of karting,” said Revolution's Managing Director, Tullio Salta.

  • Well known karter Matt Wall’s mum, Denise, has produced a new elbow and arm guard to protect karters from injuring their elbow or arm when hitting the engine on their karts. Denise’s “ElGuard” product is a lightweight, easy to wear elasticised sleeve, lined with Sorbothane. It is the only guard available on the local market with this advanced shock absorbing material. Worn over or inside your race suit, ElGuard has already been proven with several KZ drivers having tested the product. Whilst the guard might look like a standard over-the-coutner elasticised item from a chemist, the real secret is the Sorbothane insert. Price is $50 plus $5 postage anywhere in Australia.   • After 12 months of manufacture, Avoig's new full body kit for Superkarts made its track debut at the May round of the NSW State Championship at Sydney Motorsport Park. "To the 'aerodynamic experts' I can happily report over and above the elegance, the new body kit showed a sensible improvement to the aero of the Kart" said its creator, John Pellicano.

  • A Fernando Alonso Kart Camp will be held in July in Asturias, Spain. It will include 15 hours of theory and practical classes on various circuit layouts. Attendees will undertake daily English classes that specialise in motorsport vocabulary. Everything required for the camp - helmet, overalls, boots, gloves, bag, tracksuit and an FA Racing Kart - is included in the price - 1400€ (AUS$1975) without accommodation, or 1900€ (AUS$2680) to include accommodation.   • Here's a great Tillotson carburettor maintenance article - 6 pages of advice, from disassembly through cleaning, checking, adjusting and re-assembly. Andrew Fallon, Tillotson's racing product engineer, will be at Monarto this weekend for round 2 of the Australian Championships.   • NSW's Jack Black finished 10th in the Final at the Rotax US Open held at the Dallas Karting Complex in Texas on the weekend. Racing in the Senior MAX categpry, Jack qualified 5th and got into the lead of the opening heat, but was turned around and dropped to 14th. An electrical problem hindered his top speed in the remaining heats, but the Aussie came through to crack the top ten in the 22 lap final. The class was won by Oliver Askew ahead of Christian Brooks and Jake Craig, all from the USA.


  • Bairnsdale Kart Club has pulled the pin on its Open race meeting this weekend. "It was going to be tough (to get sufficient entries) with a lot of guys over in SA and a few of our members involved with Speedway the same weekend" the club's Trent Bishop informed KartSportNews.

  • A student in the UK has designed and manufactured a karting aid as part of his course work in product design. Samuel Wade's design requires only one person to load and unload a kart onto it for servicing at track days as well as assisting in loading the kart to the transportation trailer. The Year 13 studen is investigating the commercial opportunities for the product. Read more HERE.


  • Victorian Lee Mitchener will take on the locals in Western Australia at this weekend's round of the KZ WA Series at Cockburn. "He's an experienced driver and with the local knowledge of the FMA team, I'm sure he will be towards the front" event organisers said.


  • Penrite Oil has recently made a return to the karting scene in Australia. The company is pushing it's Penrite's KO2ST fully synthetic 2-stroke karting oil. Penrite announced that the Paul Feeney Group (the Australian Vortex MiniRok importer) will be the exclusive Australian distributor.

  • The karting community in the United States is morning the loss of a karting family. Ten-year old Philip Savopoulos, who raced with Praga North America, was found dead along with his parents in their house. More on kart360 HERE.

  • Glenn Davidson's latest retro reproduction, the TeamMBM.com kart that Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg drove when they were karting team mates. Davidson used his recent Rossi kart project as the base for this, but with different bodywork, wheels, steering wheel and engine. "These karts were what they used to finish 1-2 in the 2000 European Championships with Lewis winning" Glenn advised. Team mbm stood for Team Mercedes Benz McLaren which was their junior team when Mercedes and McLaren were in partnership.

  • Another example of Formula 4 stealing young karters... 14-year old Michael Benyahia, a (former) karter with seven years of experience, is now racing in the French Formula 4 Championship. This weekend, he will become the youngest driver in the 74th running of the Grand Prix de Pau on the famous street circuit.
