Micro MAX Category Set For Australian Debut at Pro Tour

press release 20 May 2015

The Rotax Pro Tour and series promoters, International Karting Distributors are pleased to announce that Micro Max will make its official debut in Australian Karting at the next round of the national series at Warwick’s Sandy Creek Raceway in Queensland with six of the country’s leading teams already confirming they have drivers to line up on the grid.

The class will be for drivers aged between 7 and 9 years old, using the Karting Australia (KA) ‘Cadet 9’ license. Utilising the Micro Max ‘EVO’ spec engine, producing 6.8 hp, the introduction of the category provides the opportunity for drivers in the aforementioned age group to follow the ‘engine for life’ concept, with only minor upgrades and changes required to progress to junior and senior classes. The category will run on the Mojo C2 Slick Tyre and Mojo CW Wet Tyre.

After featuring as a category at the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals since 2012, Micro Max will now make its debut in Australia at the Rotax Pro Tour

CRG Australia Team Principal for St. George Kart Centre, Darren King is looking forward to the introduction of Micro Max and views it as the opportunity to produce and develop driver’s right throughout their career. King is also upbeat following early success in the Mini Max format.

“We completely support the introduction of Micro Max into the Rotax Pro Tour and more widely Australian Karting. It will be a great chance for us to develop and teach drivers right from the beginning of their career right up to them competing in the senior ranks or DD2 Masters.”

“As a team, we have already achieved some fantastic results in Mini Max in the first three rounds, so with that, it’s proof that we have made some good inroads with the product and it will certainly prove to be very competitive across the board in the racing,” King said.

IP Karting Australia/Praga Karts Team Principal, Ken Bensley is upbeat about the prospects of the introduction of Micro Max into Australian Karting and cites the early growth of Mini Max as being a strong platform for the new class to follow.

“IPKarting Australia is 100% behind the introduction of Micro Max at the upcoming round of Rotax Pro Tour in Warwick and expects that the class will follow the great lead that Mini Max has already had.”

“We will be supporting local Queensland driver Jack Westbury in the inaugural Micro Max race. The Ipswich Kart Club member is the current Young Guns Cadet 9 Champion.”

“We’re looking forward to providing great karts for drivers at Rotax Pro Tour events from seven years old all the way through to the DD2 Masters category,” Bensley said.

The Micro Max Karts will have one qualifying session, three ten lap heat races, a 15 lap pre-final and 18 lap final.
