The FMA Motorsport WA KZ Series will kick off next weekend in Albany! The 2015 series is going to be as competitive as ever despite numbers being down on last year.
36 Drivers have registered for the 2015 season. Of those, 11 are rookies to the series, which is good thing.
“It means we are a legitimate Series and a stepping stone for the Juniors wishing to make something of the racing career they have ahead of them here in WA” Series Organiser Paul Williams said.
“We had 55 registered drivers last year. It was also a year we had a significant increase in professionalism and competiveness within the series so we lost a few who found it hard. Proudly though, we lost some going onto bigger and better things”.

The Series kicks off in Albany on the 24th with a revised track from the 2014 series. This year Albany are going the opposite direction which sets a few new challenges for the drivers. None more so than the infamous first corner ‘bump’ which has been nicknamed ‘The Gump’. Named after series legend Simon ‘Gumby’ Gwilliam, he found himself struggling to keep the kart track-side during some testing.
“It’s great to see the various teams going out testing in the off season” Paul Said. “And why wouldn’t they? We have increased prize money this year thanks to our sponsors FMA, Core-IT, Tasktrakka, Attree Realestate and Newlands and Associates. Also some fantastic prizes which all entries are eligible for thanks to Revolution Race Gear, WA Rally School, FastLane and SmartArts”.
