INDUSTRY – The latest shipment of Kosmic and FA Karts from the OTK Group in Italy arrived at the DPE Kart Technology warehouse in Melbourne recently. REDS R IN – Golden Power Series organisers have confirmed the TaG 125 Light and Heavy classes have moved from MG Yellow to MG Red for the next round at Morwell. All other classes remain on the same tyre as round two.


INDUSTRY – JAG Engineering in the UK has been named by BRP-Rotax as its Distributor of the Year for 2018. The annual award recognizes distributors’ efforts regarding sales achievements and operational excellence that lead to strengthen BRP-Rotax’s marketing efforts around the world.

FACTORY TOUR – Jenni Wade visited the CRG factory during the opening round of the DKM in Lonato. She walked around the workshops where the Karts are built, had some chats with different people from CRG and summarized the CRG history and future with Giancarlo Tinini.


VALE: GRAHAM CARD – One of Australian karting’s long-standing officials, Graham ‘Silver’ Card, passed away recently. He was 74. Silver was a prominent member of the karting community throughout New South Wales for many years, particularly the Grenfell Kart Club. A farewell memorial was held at the Grenfell circuit last Saturday.

PAIN IN THE… – An innocuous kerb strike is believed to have broken a small bone in Eryn Osborne’s throat during the previous AKC round at Newcastle. Her recovery has been going well. 9News reported on her injury and recovery HERE.

EVENT – The fourth round of the Sparco Rotax Pro Tour heads south to Victoria’s Puckapunyal next month. The “Super 6” event doubles as the Victorian State Title. Entries are now open! If you cannot make it track-side, Pro Tour will be LIVE STREAMING all of Sundays action through the Rotax Pro Tour Facebook Page and YouTube Channel.


INDUSTRY – Right Karts and the OTK Kart Group have announced that Right Karts has been appointed the exclusive New Zealand importer and distributor of the renowned Kosmic range of karts. The organisation is also the New Zealand distributor of Rotax engines and spares.


POST IT – Lismore Kart Club advise the Lismore circuit will be closed from June 25 to June 28. Australia Post we be utilising the facility for a training exercise.


EVO 2 – The Woodgate Racing EVO2 chassis is now a reality. VALE: DAVE CAMWELL SNR – The Whyalla Kart Club advises the sad passing of Life Member Dave Camwell Senior. He passed away on Mothers Day, just shy of his 85th birthday. Dave’s funeral will be held tomorrow (Friday, May 16) at the Wood Terrace Funeral Parlour at 11 am with a drink or 2 at the town bowls club afterwards.

F1 for SAFETY – FIA video “F1 drivers advocate for RoadSafety”. Pay attention out there!


POWER MAC – Peter McDonald of Powermac Racing fame has returned to going fast on water. He raced boats into his late 20s but then, with a young family and a move to Terang, switched across to karting. Over the following decades, family members won multiple National and karting state titles, and the Powermac Products business supplied control mufflers and other karting product for many years. Now, at nearly 74 years of age, McDonald is showing no signs of slowing down and is once again looking to break the 100mph mark on water. ACHIEVEMENT – American karter Daniel Eaton won pole position and placed first in a Tri-C Go-Kart class race last weekend in Fontana, California. ‘So what?’ you might ask. Daniel has hemiplegia (a form of paralysis) and races one handed. “His racing community in Southern California is in total awe with his accomplishments under severe impediments” his dad very proud “papa”, Homer, told KartSportNews.

REVIVAL – Allan Howard has archived the old Kartbook forums and website and has set up a similar site at a new address – kartbook.net.au. Allan told KartSportNews that the kartbook.net DNS entries now appear to be owned by a Russian organisation. “I thought we would lose some of the historical Kartbook content, so I have established a new website and (to preserve history) taken a static copy of the old content.”


JAILED – Former WA karting photographer Frank Viola has been sentenced to 15 months jail. He was charged in August 2018 with possession of child exploitation material and sentenced last month. The West Australian news website reports Judge Amanda Burrows SC considered “this to be a significant collection of child exploitation material” and “you admitted you had a sexual interest in young girls. I find the interest you had was considerable and long-standing.” He will be eligible for parole in December.


CERTIFIED – BRP-Rotax has announced an all-new Rotax Certification Program. The aim of the program is to further develop the high standards of the worldwide Authorised Rotax Karting Service Network. The UK’s Steve Ogden will be the first Rotax Training Centre offering three courses:
