Team PR: DJM Race Engineering

DJM Race Engineering took on the Victorian Open Championships over the weekend at the Eastern Lions Kart Club. Under sunny conditions the team of five drivers were looking to come home with a Victorian state championship win.

Joshua D’Ambrosio and Charlee Richardson represented the DJM Race Engineering Team in KA4 Junior Heavy. D’Ambrosio was able to get the team off to the best possible start putting his entry on pole position. Richardson also had a strong start coming inside the top ten in position seven. After a strong weekend for both drivers D’Ambrosio was right in the battle for the win and state championship in the final. After being as high as second D’Ambrosio managed to come away with a podium finish in position three on the podium. Richardson after being inside the top ten majority of the weekend come home in position seven in the final in a strong top ten result.

Cooper Stapleton represented the DJM Race Engineering Team and youngest category over the weekend in Cadet 9. Stapleton competitive in qualifying was only 0.113 off pole position but in an extremely competitive qualifying session that was only good enough to get him to seventh spot. Stapleton did a great job over the heats to move forward and get himself out of position three for the final. Stapleton battled in the lead pack for majority of the final coming home inside the top five in fifth position in a strong result for cadet 9 driver.

Bodhi Bright was another driver to compete for the DJM Race Engineering in the highly competitive KA3 Junior Class. Bright qualified inside the top ten in position seven. Bright battled his way through into the top five for the heats and coming away with a second spot for the fourth and final heat race. Bright started out of position five for the final and was running inside the top five the whole final as high as fourth at one stage. In unfortunate circumstances due to a large roll over Bright’s final got cut short and he come home in highly respectable fifth position.

Zane Bright was DJM Race Engineering last driver and only driver in the senior ranks competing in the KA3 Senior Light category. In tough weekend for Bright and a competitive field he qualified down in position twenty-five. Bright had run as high as sixteenth at stages throughout the weekend but was involved in trouble in the final and had a DNF finish.

DJM Race Engineering team owner Dylan McLellan was happy but slightly disappointed to miss out on a blue plate. “It was a good weekend, it sounds weird to be disappointed but I am a little. I am super proud of all the drivers but to miss out on a blue plate being top five in three classes but we will build, learn and move on to our next meeting”.
