The Sparco Rotax Pro Tour is just over one week away to rolling into the newly named Sydney Motorsport Kart Club (Eastern Creek). With drivers travelling from Australia and New Zealand to contest the standalone NSW State Championship round. The round is known as the “Sydney Spectacular” and will have a change in format, offering drivers a fourth heat before the Pre-Final and Finals get underway.

  • Entry list & timetable is HERE

In the youngest category to compete at the Sparco Rotax Pro Tour our Micro Max competitors never fail to display some of the best racing. Z Corse Trio Jaxson Burns, Isaac McNeill and Jenson Burns locked out the podium at the official shakedown event and will be ones to watch out for but will have the likes of Tom Williamson Motorsport driver James Anagnostiadis looking to further his lead in the championship. Competing in only his second Micro Max race in Australia is New Zealander Marco Manson. Manson was on the podium at the Australia Day season opener and currently sits third in the points.

In Mini Max Aiva Anagnostiadis enters the Sydney Spectacular as points leader and after a podium finish at the Brian Farley Memorial will have her eyes set firmly on extending the lead. Anagnostiadis wont have a clear run to the chequered flag with second generation Goulburn racer, Costa Toparis only 139 points behind and looking for redemption. Competing under the Pro Karting/Formula K banner is Victorian Kristian Janev who had a successful start to the series and with Adam Lindstrom in his corner looks to improve on Round 1. Local Kamal Mrad will have the home track advantage going into the NSW State Title but will also have to keep an eye on Max Walton and Jordan Ensbey of QLD who are looking for podium finishes come Sunday.

It was a great start to the season for 2018 World Finals goer William Seal, sitting 286 points clear of Electro Industries’ Ethan Feather who only made the transition to Junior Max for this season. Beau Pronesti had the start to the season he was hoping for with a pole position and heat wins at Todd Road bit it was a first corner incident that saw the clean sweep out of reach. With the home track knowledge Pronesti will be looking to stand on the top step of the podium with a blue plate in hand at the conclusion of Round 2.

In Rotax Light it will be hard to take your eyes off Pierce Lehane who has undoubtedly circulated lap after lap at this circuit in his highly successful career. Lehane will have the likes of 2017 DD2 World Champion Cody Gillis to fend off. Sydney-sider Jack Black is coming into the round with a win at the Brian Farley Memorial but it wont be an easy race with the likes of Jackson Rooney, Jaiden Pope, Reece Cohen and Cody Brewczynski all looking for the first blue plate of the season.

In one of the most hotly contested classes at the Australia Day Season Opener, Rotax Heavy again has a line up of talent ready to hit the track. We see the return of Victorian Rick Pringle looking to mix it with the countries best. Ben McMellan goes into the 6 Race round series leader but the margin is small to Novacastrian Zac Van Leeuwestyn and 2018 Series Winner Lane Moore. Coming into the round with home track knowledge is Matt Long & Simon Davison who will be making their debut to the 2019 Series.

Young gun Jonathon Marcusson entered Todd Road a DD2 debutant and left a round winner and series leader. Marcusson had to battle against Sydney Motorsport Kart Club local Cody Brewczynski and Kiwi Bond Roby. 2018 Team Australia Captain and Series Champion Ryan Kennedy will be looking for redemption coming into the Sydney Spectacular. After contesting the Brian Farley Memorial for some extra laps Kennedy is looking to get his World Finals campaign back on track. The likes of Jac Preston, Troy Morrissey, Damian Ward and Tristan Ellery will be ones to keep an eye on also.

In DD2 Masters its Z Corse Team Owner, Kris Walton who leads the points chase after a positive start to his 2019 World Final campaign. With Troy Woolston opting not to race the NSW State Title Walton’s closest contender is Paul Rodgers who made the move from Rotax Heavy to the gearbox class and is currently sitting third in the championship. Troy Bretherton stood on the podium at the opening round for Racehaus and will be looking to maintain his form going into “The Creek”. Scott Howard will enter the round off a win at the Brian Farley Memorial and will hoping to regain a coveted “Blue Plate” at Round 2 of the Sparco Rotax Pro Tour.

No less than seven blue plates will be up for contention at the Sydney Spectacular which takes place across March 9/10. On Sunday with thanks to series sponsor Sparco the team at Viztek Media will again be LIVE STREAMING Sunday’s action through the Rotax Pro Tour YouTube Channel.

Entry to the event is free to spectators. Qualifying takes place on Saturday with 3 heats followed by the fourth heat, pre final and final on Sunday.
