OLD SCHOOL 80s – Here’s a great clip from the 1989 City Series opening round at the tight but action-packed Wollongong track. This is the Pro Clubman class featuring the gun drivers of the time. Notable names are Jim Courtney (James’ dad, who flips out of the race) and Rotax’s Darrell Smith. AKRA is running a meeting at this track this Saturday afternoon/evening (Feb 23).

DP PR – The DR Racing Kart Team is growing in Australia, scoring outstanding results in a wide range of classes. Noah Enright qualified pole position and won the first round of VCS in Cadet 9 (pic below). “We only had two competing at AKC and we scored a podium in KA2” the team’s Christopher Board told KartSportNews. “In X30 we were fast on Friday and finished 27th in the final with Declan Matthews. We also had a few competing at Lithgow on the weekend.” The team is looking to expand its driver line up at AKC and Rotax Pro Tour. Looking to join, or just want a DR Kart for club racing? DRIVER PR – Russ Occhipinti continues to make progress in the 125 Open gearbox class with a strong second place finish at Phillip island at the opening round of the Victorian Superkart Club series. The team is developing the Woodgate EVO Rotax MAX chassis to suit the 125-gearbox class and the kart has plenty of speed and reliability heading into round 2 at Broadford.

CELEB CASH-IN – Will this help the lap scorers? Full page advert in a magazine that appears to be from December 1960. (For those not familiar with racing history, Jim Rathmann was the winner of that year’s Indianapolis 500.)
