from zagame/zag.com.au

Long before Mark Webber and Daniel Ricciardo were household names, they too were young kids spending weekends with their mums and dads hitting race tracks and honing their craft while dreaming of one day becoming a motorsport star.

Enter young karting champion, Lewis Francis.

Lewis’ love for motor racing began with his first drive in a go-kart aged four and it was soon evident he was a natural. He had his first competitive race aged seven and last year won the Australian Kart Championship and Victorian State Karting Championship in the Cadet 9 Class.

Although still only nine, Lewis has moved up to the Cadet 12 (under 12s) category for 2019 and is eager to make his mark in this very competitive field. Cadet 12 is a division of Kart racing in which many of motorsports’ greats first excelled, including the likes of Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen.

Zagame Autosport is delighted to back young Lewis in his endeavours, giving him support as he takes to the national stage in 2019 in the Cadet 12 class.

Lewis enjoys all the preparation that goes into karting. From working with his mechanic and family making sure the kart is set up well, to giving feedback to his engine builder to ensure the engines are perfectly tuned.

“After this I know it is down to me to win the race and winning is by far the best thing,” says Lewis. You can follow Kart 33 – Lewis Francis in the Cadet 12 class – with each round of the Australian Karting Championship to be streamed live here
