In Qualifying Morita wasn’t able to get the full amount out of kart and qualified in a lowly 33rd spot and outside the top thirty making a big task for all races of the weekend. “We unfortunately didn’t nail the setup and I’m still trying to get everything out of the package we have” Morita noted.

Throughout the heats Morita continued to have a struggle after making no movement in the opening heat and finishing in 33rd position and then in heat 2 having a DNF finish hurt the Japenese aces points hall. Morita had his best result of saturday in heat three where he was able to move forward five positions and finish in position 28. “It has been an extremely tough day with a DNF also not helping our points situation” Morita told. “Saying that I’m having a great time learning lots and the final heat of the day was a highlight to move forward in position.

Morita put in the best performance of his weekend coming home in the top twenty five making up 8 positions from his starting position salvaging a stronger result after a tough weekend! “This weekend has been a very tough introduction the Australian Kart Championship and the final was a better race”. “ I still have a long way to go to catch these front runners but I very much enjoyed the weekend and am looking forward to seeing what the season brings” noted Morita.

Morita overall was happy with the result after a tough month leading up trying to make the weight and dropping ten kilograms in the month prior to the event. “It was a great fun weekend, to finish in the top 25 against the the best of the best in the nation is more I could of hoped for” Morita noted.

Morita will be carrying out the full season in the Australian Kart Championship with his next outing being at the second round of the championship at Newcastle Kart Club.
