DJM Race Engineering had a big weekend of action with drivers at the opening round of the Australian Kart Championship in QLD and the opening round of the Golden Power Series at the Bendigo Kart Club.
Cooper Stapleton was up at QLD taking place in the opening round of the Australian Kart Championship where he qualified in a creditable eleventh spot just outside the top ten. Stapleton did a great job in moving forward in the opening two heats with an eighth spot in heat 1 and top five finish in heat 2. A DNF in heat three threw a wrench in the young chargers weekend. Heat 4 Stapleton had his work cut out after his DNF finish coming home in 15th and charged forward again in the final to finish top ten in tenth spot.
Jackson Griffith took his spot in the TAG field for his first ever Australian Kart Championship start and had a weekend of learning and improving kart speed and race craft against the best drivers in the country. Griffith struggled in the qualifying setting a time for position 30. Griffith in the first three heats was able to move forward in all races for position 26, 25 and 23 showing a clean pair of heels. Heat 4 he went back to position 29 and a final finishing spot of position 24 gaining valuable track time.
Zaiden Barry had a hard task in his first Australian Kart Championship Round in the premier junior class KA2 Junior. Barry qualified just outside the top twenty in position 21. Barry had heat results of position 25, 24, 18 and a DNF. Barry then finished the final after a tough introduction in position 26 in a high quality field with young Barry defiantly being one to watch in the 2019 season.

At Bendigo for the opening round of the Golden Power Series State Cup winner Joshua D’Ambrosio led the charge for the team with three race wins and a very close second in the final and taking the championship lead in the progress.
Bodhi Bright was another driver to have a strong weekend with three race wins and third position in the final taking the points championship lead while brother Zane Bright also had a strong weekend coming home third in the final in a highly competitive KA3 senior class.
Layne Siekman was the fourth driver of the weekend at Bendigo to take a podium for the DJM team taking third spot. Other drivers Miranda Clarke finished top ten with Brett Jenkin and Rhys Siekman having finals to forgot with room for improvement for the rest of the series.
DJM Race Engineering was happy “its been a good weekend, we had some real improvement over the weekend up here in Queensland and the guys down in Victoria had a great start to the season”. DJM Race Engineering will now prepare for the next round of both series.
