Tom Williamson Motorsport has been one of the most dominate karting teams of recent memory and if round 1 at the Australian Rotax Pro Tour at Go Kart Club of Victoria 2019 is going to be much of the same!
James Anagnostiadis TWM youngest chargers started the weekend with a huge statement putting his kart on pole position by a massive 0.7 seconds unheard of at Australian Karting Level! While Anagnostiadis didn’t win any of the heats he come of age in both finals taking the win by respective margins on 8.4 seconds and 11 seconds! With a dominate statement making start to the year this young kid is a certain star in the making!
In mini max the Anagnostiadis TWM partnership rolled on with Aiva Anagnostiadis qualifying on the front row of the grid only headed by the defending AUS champ and on debut in mini max Jake Rutkowski qualifying in top ten in seventh! Aiva Anagnostiadis was in the thick of things all weekend taking a heat win a second and a fifth in the heats with young Rutkowski also running throughout the top five in the heats. After a extremely close battle in the pre final Anagnostiadis ran home in the runner up spot in the final but most importantly left round 1 the championship leader. Ruthowski run as high as the top five in the final but finished just outside the top ten in postion twelve showing he will be a driving to watch in 2019!
Junior Max was another dominate display by the TWM stable with drivers Beau Pronesti and William Seal locking out the front row! New Zealander Josh Richmond and Seb Ruiz also qualifying inside the top 10 in seventh and eighth respectfully! Junior Max was nothing short of TWM domination winning all heats and the final! Pronesti took out all three heats but a DNF in the pre final opened the door for William Seal on super sunday to take both finals! Pronesti in one of the drives of the day charged from the rear of grid in the final to finish a highly creditable sixth with Richmond in seventh and Ruiz after a competitive weekend unfortunately had a DNF in the final with a great season still at the ready for the young man!
Rotax light was a weekend of what could of been for the team with great pace all day friday not converting to any wins or podium finishes but still the TWM team showed their strength with senior debutant Jaiden Pope and former world champion both finishing in the top ten! Pope running outside of the top five all weekend charged home for a respectful fourth final position with Gillis running top five all weekend coming home in sixth with the former world champ still havent plenty to offer! Jackson Rooney and Marc Tulloch both had creditable weekend both running at top five at stages in the final coming home fourteenth and sixteenth with still plenty to give this season. Kye Cavedon and Tayla Harnas running just outside the top twenty with plenty to come.
TWM only had one representative in Rotax Heavy in Rotax Heavy in Ben Mcmellan but that was enough to dominate both finals on super sunday. Mcmellan qualified on the front row and ran in the top three all day saturday before his emphatic performance on sunday putting himself in the championship lead with a bright 2019 at his feet!
DD2 had four TWM drivers with Jac Preston and Bond Roby taking home top five finishes in the final while Josh Bethune and Elly Morrow finishing top ten! Roby and Preston locked out the front row in qualifying, Preston ran top five in all heats but Roby on international debut took pole and heat win to set up a fascinating sunday! Preston was the best of the TWM team with a podium finish in third with Roby also finishing in the top five in fifth! Bethune and Morrow who both ran consistently inside the top ten all weekend finished in eighth and ninth making all four TWM drivers finish top ten!
In DD2 masters TWM had only one representative in Ashley Seward with TWM driver showing his hand all weekend running top ten in every race! with Seward as high as sixth throughout the weekend on sundays final he ran a creditable top ten finish in tenth showing he has plenty to offer this season!
TWM manager Tom Williamson was happy with results but showed his drive and will to win for his team and drivers never stops! “ As a team we are very happy with the opening round” said Willamson. “ 5 drivers on the podium and three class wins was a successful weekend. We are looking forward to continuing this success into round two and working hard to get more results for the team”. TWM will next step out at the opening round of the Australian Kart Championship in a few weeks time where they will again looking to show their pace and class!
