Following success in Las Vegas at SKUSA 2018, TGR Racing (headed up by Tyler Greenbury) and Dieci Racing’s founder Shane Marcusson and son Jonathon, have joined forces with Praga Global and DPE Kart Technology to further improve Praga’s presence in New South Wales. 2019 will see Dieci Racing and TGR provide part support, new kart sales, technical advice and driver training to new and existing Praga owners. “We will also be involving ourselves with the 4-stroke series and developing the Praga Dark kart to be a major contender at these exciting events” the team advised KartSportNews. Jonathon kicked off the 2019 partnership in style, winning the DD2 class at the Pro Tour opener at Todd Rd.

Aussie karting Icon John Pizarro says “I feel like a cat with two tails!” after hearing he was on the Queen’s Birthday Honours List to receive an OAM (Medal of the Order of Australia) as part of this year’s Australia Day celebrations. The Parkes Champion-Post website reports Pizarro received the OAM in recognition of his service to motor sports, in particular karting. The 73-year old raced karts from 1964 to 1995, but has held many administrative positions over the years, such as National Track Inspector and NSW State Delegate on the National Karting Council. He’s been a member of the Parkes Rotary Club since 1971. Read the full article and interview HERE.

Karting NSW has advised that the Office of Sport and Recreation Services has provided written confirmation that it will continue to recognise Karting (New South Wales) Inc under the Motor Vehicle Sports (Public Safety) Act 1985 in relation to the sport of karting. “They also confirmed that Track Licenses issued by the Office of Sport to all tracks in NSW currently remain in place un-amended” KNSW published on its website. “KNSW confirms that to race under its competition rules, a formerly “KA issued ‘Circuit Licence’” is not required.”

This year will see a Junior Superkart Series take place for the first time since 2014. The Victorian Superkart Club is seeking 5 to 10 (though more are welcome) 12-16-year-olds wanting to go long circuit racing across the four rounds. Utilising sprint-spec Rotax MAX machinery, the series will use a control Dunlop tyre (tyres will be retained by the club and kept in locked bags between rounds) and restricted to three sprockets and three jets that will be set by the organiser. Entry to the championship includes a CAMS Junior licence and Victorian Superkart club membership, meaning participants can also race at all the club rounds, two of which happen before the series kicks off at Phillip Island in April.

How-To tech video: fuel tank fitting installation. You’ll need a drill, vice grips, spanner, cable and the fitting.
