The ever popular MXC & MXL rims by OTK are back in stock at Tony Kart Australia. They are made of the same material and are the same rigidity, however TKA’s Greg Smith explains the difference is more than just the shape: “The MXL wheel is basically the same as the (older style) MXC wheel except for the volume of air for the same pressure, ie the MXL wheel (right side of picture) has less tyre volume. Regarding stiffness, MXL is designed to be the same as the MXC wheel via a thicker larger outside rim edge. Tillotson (the carby people) have got their own kart and engine package. The company is promoting open test days through February and March with the intent of debuting a “Tillotson T4” spec series at the Ireland National Championship later in the year. The package includes Tillotson’s own T4-C1 chassis and their 225RS 4-stroke engine. The 2750 Euro price tag equates to approx AUS $4360, plus taxes.
It’s not just Australia that’s switching to more durable tyres. Superkarts! USA is changing the tyre used in Junior X30 for 2019. Previously on the Evinco Red “M” like all the other X30 categories, this year juniors will move to the harder compound Evinco Blue “H” spec tyre, which is also used in SKUSA’s KA100 classes.
The Launceston Kart Club presents the 24th running of the McDonald’s Young Guns on Saturday February 2nd. The meeting kicks off the Tasmanian season and a good field has entered for the major junior race of the year. The 21-lap feature race is open to any junior driver at a pro KA4 weight. The meeting also includes the Wyllie family Shield for both Cadet 9 and Cadet 12, with the winner in both classes decided on points over the 4 races on the day. The club has plenty of prizes on offer with 4 sets of junior/cadets tyres up for grabs as well as over $250 worth of vouchers from club sponsor the Jailhouse Grill. Entries are open until race day. And remember, Karting is not a sport, it’s a way of Life, live it, love it.
Adria Karting Raceway will host the season opener of WSK Promotion’s 2019 program, the WSK Champions Cup from January 24th to 27th.
