CIK-FIA AWARDS – A re-cap of the FIA Karting Gala Awards 2018 which was hosted recently in Geneva:
HANDLES LIKE IT’S ON RAILS! – After finishing 2nd in his last ever Cadet 9 race (at the Grenfell club’s Xmas Meet last weekend), Wollongong member Kaleb Belak made a unique pit stop on the way home. “(It) was Kaleb’s last race in Cadet 9, so we stopped by an old rickety bridge and took a few photos” his dad Phil said. “I had spied these tracks earlier in the year and came up with the idea.” Oh, and don’t panic – it’s a disused line.

TAS TIME – The Launceston Kart Club has announced its 2019 schedule. “The club will hold 4 open race meetings during the year. We will also hold a few open practice days. These practice days will be great for our new members to come along, or for those that are just starting out and are looking for some help and guidance. We will endeavor to provide some extra support on these days” the club stated. The year kicks off with a “Just for Skids” event next month and concludes with a TaG Enduro in December. The Tasmanian State Championship will be held at the Southern Tasmanian Kart Club on November 22 to 24.

XMAS BREAK #2 – The AIDKA Executive is taking time off over the Christmas/New Year period, effective 22 December through to January 5. “We wish all our club members and families a very Merry Christmas and a safe New Year. See you all trackside next year!”
CAMS $$$ SURVEY – CAMS will soon be conducting another “Economic Impact of Motor Sport” survey. CAMS commissioned a similar survey in 2013 and now that five years have passed, wish to update the information. “The new research will examine the motor sport industry’s core economic contribution, as well as provide case studies to demonstrate key issues such as induced tourism, female participation, and community development support” the organisation stated.
BEST OF – The 2018 FIA Karting Best Of is a CIK-FIA publication that comes out at the end of the year. It presents the highlights of the CIK-FIA Karting season – a summary of all the 2018 FIA Karting Championships, features on the Champions, a portfolio, some interviews and historical data and the detailed results of all the 2018 FIA Karting Championships. VALE: DOUGLAS PEARCE – Public Notice to all Dubbo Kart Club Members and the Karting Community; “Douglas Pearce, one of the founding members of the Dubbo Kart Club, passed away on the 7th December 2018, aged 73. Doug was a driving force in the early period of the club and was passionate about the sport. Our sincere condolences to the Pearce Family during this sad time.”

KA100 FOR FWT – IAME’s KA100 engine will be part of the 2019 Florida Winter Tour. Organisers have confirmed the KA100, along with the ROK VLR, will compete together in the Junior and Senior 100cc classes. The class entry fee of US$750 (approx AUS$1035) includes Driver and Mechanic admission on official days, 5 gallons of fuel, 1 bottle of oil and 1 set of Bridgestone YLR tyres (2 front + 2 rear). The Briggs 206 will also have Senior & Junior classes (US$500 entry). Micro and Mini ROK are US$700 while ROK Junior, Senior, Masters and the Shifter classes are US$850 (which includes 2 sets of Bridgestone YLR).

CRG ENDURO – The 24 Hours of Italy 2019, that will be run with CRG Centurion 390cc karts, takes place on the Adria track on March 30th-31st. An innovation of this 2019 edition will be the long live streaming – about 28 hours of content that will include images broadcast from the circuit with commentary, results and interviews of the drivers. Registrations are already open and will close once the 40 available places are filled. The entry fee is Euro 2,300 + VAT.
