Geelong: Successful Practice Day Leads To Another

Last Sunday, the Geelong Kart Club ran an independent practice day for anyone who wanted to have a run in a kart.

Running with the “Karting for Everyone” theme, the day was so successful the club is running another this Sunday, December 2. Track time is between 9am and 5pm and gates open at 8am.

“The first Geelong Kart Club AASA practise day for all karters was just awesome” the club wrote on its website.

“Brilliant to see karters we have never seen before enjoying the world class facilities of the Geelong Kart Club. They really did have a ball. Amazing to see Yamahas and a mixture of old and new including four strokes blitzing around the GKC track.”

This Sunday is another chance for all the recreational (and race) karters to drag out their dusty karts and have a run.

KA Licences are not valid on this day (that’s because it’s not a Karting Australia event; it’s run under the AASA banner) and it is practise only – but anybody can turn up and pay their $50 to have a skid.

The club’s Dominic Albanese stressed to KartSportNews the club was not breaking away from Karting Australia.

“We are not breaking away from KA. While these practice days have nothing to do with KA, we will still be running our normal KA club days and other race meetings in 2019.

“Actually, as a result of last Sunday we’ve already had a guy sign up to a full family membership to go KA racing next year.”

It is likely a schedule of practice days for the rest of December & January will be available soon.
