Nick Percat: DPE Kart Superstore Ambassador

DPE Kart Superstore will be on the grid at this weekend’s Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 announcing 2011 race winner, Nick Percat as a brand ambassador.

Although he has a full-time racing career with Brad Jones Racing in the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship, Percat remains a regular competitor in karting competition around the nation – as does his PIRTEK Enduro Cup co-driver, Macauley Jones.

As recent as last weekend, Percat warmed up for the Bathurst assault with a karting event at Melbourne’s Todd Road circuit, where he drove a DPE Kart Superstore Arrow X5.

“Since moving up the ranks of the Supercars ladder, Nick’s remained a regular competitor in karting, not just at the highest level, but also at club level like last weekend at Todd Road,” said DPE Kart Superstore Managing Director, Bart Price.

“He brings more than just driving to the table and has become an integral part of the DPE Kart Superstore at-track support team for our customers and that is something that we will continue to build on with him.

“It is awesome that someone who races at the highest level in Australia continues to get back to their roots and challenges themselves to remain race sharp for major events like Bathurst.

“For us, it goes further than that. It gives the young drivers coming through the opportunity to rub shoulders with their heroes and in some cases, receive advice that may unlock something with their driving or race setup which they will carry with them throughout their careers.

“DPE Kart Superstore is looking forward to settling in for the Bathurst 1000 and being along for the ride with Nick inside the #8 BJR Commodore.”

The Price family has a long and storied history at Bathurst, with the patriarch of DPE Kart Superstore, Drew Price being a regular with John Faulkner and the Toyota Team Australia, taking a class win in 1988 as part of the World Touring Car Championship’s visit to the Mountain.

Drew’s son Shane made six Bathurst starts between 2006 and 2011, primarily with Larry Perkins’ outfit and Shane’s cousin Melinda has been part of many events including the Supercars 1000 and Production car long distance races at the Mountain.

DPE Kart Superstore has two retail outlets – one at Yatala on the Old Pacific Highway just off the M1 Motorway servicing Brisbane, Gold Coast and the Redlands and one in Port Melbourne on Salmon Street, within a short distance of the Todd Road Karting complex.

DPE Kart Superstore has Australia’s widest range of kart chassis and accessories – from the Australian built Arrow chassis to internationally recognised brands such as Kosmic, FA, Kart Republic, Praga and Corsa Kart.

Practice for the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 begins on Thursday with Qualifying Friday, Top 10 Shootout Saturday and the 1000km race on Sunday. Live coverage of every session will be carried on Fox Sports 506 with coverage from Friday on Network Ten.
