Ladies Trophy Cancelled For 2019

The annual Ladies Trophy Event at Lithgow will not be run in 2019.

The Combined Districts Kart Club has confirmed that dwindling numbers are responsible for the decision.

“Unfortunately in recent years participant numbers have dropped to a level that makes it hard to justify the effort required to run the event” the club published on its website.

However, it’s not the end of the road for the iconic female-only race meeting.

The club endeavors to run it again in 2020, possibly on a bi-annual basis until support ramps up again.

The event – and annual pilgrimage for Australia’s lady karters – has raised over $200,000 for breast cancer research. The winners in each class receive what is now a highly sought after pink number plate.

“In past years we have had enormous support from girls traveling huge distance to support the event but is a big ask for that to happen year on year. We will look forward to 2020 with a view that by running the event bi-annually that we can get more support from Australia’s lady racers.

“We are hopeful that by having a break for 2019 will see more ladies and girls putting the event on their calendar for 2020.”
