Qld 4SS Titles at Ipswich Championship Round 4

from Kev “The Noise” Davies

A great day of racing as 155 karters turned up for the DPE SE QLD 4SS Titles meeting and the biggest field of 4SS Seniors in the country to date, bolstered by current V8 driver and Torini brand ambassador Todd Hazelwood.

More big names were at the meeting, such as sprintcar ace Karl Hoffmans. Henry Titman, son of another sprintcar ace Kevin Titman, was competing in just his 5th race.

There was some excellent racing all day which unfortunately was spoiled by a timing system which just keeps failing – but the show must go on as they say…

As a commentator I use the timing system when calling the event and videoing these races – so unfortunately we don’t have as many of the races to share this time.

4SS Senior

What a day and it was brand ambassador Todd Hazelwood who showed everyone how to drive these Torini 4 strokes, qualified on pole and took every race win! But he was kept honest by none other than the SEK endurance pairing of Luke Lane & Scotty Pearce. Lane eventually took second on the day and Pearce third. A word for the boss of Torini Engines, Kevin Davis a magnificent 4th. Steve Vidler had chain dramas all day and the Queen Of Drift April Vaughan brought it home in 6th. Everyone moved up a place in the trophy presentation because Todd was obviously racing as ambassador and didn’t figure in the trophies – but he did in fact hand them out!

Cadet 9

Great win for the Tempur sponsored driver Jackson Cooper after some great battles all day with second place getter Jake Santin. Third was a hard charging Basilio Micale and a word too for James Cittolin who was right up with the leading trio all day long.

TaG Restricted Medium

Rudy Farkas could do no wrong all day and really showed some great speed. There were some fantastic battles in the rest of the field and eventually second place was won by Andrew Gilliam. Gregory Hines gave the front two a real run for their money and Brett Wells kept them honest all day. A word for Angus Mathers in seventh who after praying to Buddah just couldn’t get on the podium but had some great battles with Pete Sattler. Scotty Cleveland also had a cracker day coming home 5th.

TaG Light and Heavy

TaG Light saw some fantastic racing all day! Random grid didn’t disappoint Ben Jurczak eventually getting the win despite a DNF in the final – 3 heat wins did it. Eryn Osborne was a fantastic second, Zac lobko secured third place and Scott Sorensen, the KA1 National champion couldn’t quite make the podium when his points were spoiled after a DNF in heat 2 for a bumper coming loose! Aaron Rabjones mixed it with the front pack all day too.

In the Heavy class consistency payed of for Christopher Williams who eventually took the overall win. Jarad Neinert, despite two heat wins, could only manage second due to a DNF in the final, and a heat win and overall third went to Sam “The Iceman” Houston.

KA3 Junior & Jmax

What a day of racing these guys had with some excellent driving. The Hitman, Tommy Cooper, managed to come away with the overall win and it was Oscar Comley who took a heat win and really gave him a run for his money all day. Third place could have been anyone’s Brady Mitchell was really fast as was “cool hand” Luke Pink but it was Connor Roberts who pipped them both to the final podium position.

KA3 Senior

What a day Brieann Moyse had with overall victory to go with two heat victories, but it was a hard fought victory as Mitchell Wooller was really fast all day too! The Blingy Man came home with the final podium position and a close 4th after a troublesome day for the “Turkey Man“ Lachlan Nichols. Michael Patrizi gave the youngsters some good racing but ultimately was giving away too much weight to be competitive.

Cadet 12

The biggest field of the day and quality every where!
