VALE: ARTEMI – Belorussian karter Artemi Kamenok lost his life in a road accident while returning home from a round of the National championship earlier this month. The 17-year old had been on the podium earlier in the day. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Artemi Kamenok and his mate Yuri, who tragically lost their lives returning from a race last night” Jenni Wade posted on social media. “Artemi proudly represented his team at the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals 2017 and will be forever missed by his teammates and friends on the grid.”

TASMANIAN COMBINED

IKD at AKC – The IKD Truck will be at the Australian Kart Championship this weekend in Newcastle from Thursday through to Sunday.

WIN A KART – Can you see your Cadet driver in a new Arrow?

TARGET SMASHED – Steve Peacock‎ to the Ipswich Kart Club:  “Well the final count has been done and thank you to everyone who dug deep and donated. Between the online page and the race day donations as a club we raised a massive $2,002.45 for the Leukaemia Foundation which has been a monumental effort and smashed our $1500 goal. The Smeaton family would like to thank everyone for their kind donations and support of Victoria and can’t wait to get her better and out to the track for her to start her go kart racing journey.” Well done to all.

PRE-ORDER – It’s been under development at race tracks around the country, and now you can pre-order the X5 Junior chassis by DPE. KA4 Junior Light drivers, don’t be delayed in receiving your new kart, get your folks to call your local Arrow dealer today! This is the kart that has finished:

MAC’s HISTORY LESSON – How’s this promotional film by McCulloch, circa 1961? This Mac features a detachable rear axle power unit using shock absorbing rubber mounts. Love the sliding nature of karts back then 🙂

CADET CAPERS – Some top racing from the Cadet class at the New Zealand Kart Championships. “This was one of the best Cadet titles ever with a red flag and restart 4 laps from the finish” Niki Urwin advised KartSportNews.

THE NEGATIVE CULTURE OF DRIVING STANDARDS – David Cole writes on ekartingnews that he’s sick of reading about lack of racecraft on social media after every big race meeting; you know, the who wrecked who and who was at fault blame game. “Why are we all ramming into each other?” Cole lists some very valid reasons he sees as contributors to this lack of respect from drivers, from the configuration of the karts to penalty systems and even the increasing number of big teams.  This is a worthwhile read, check out the article HERE. He writes “My hope is always that everyone gets to race hard, stays safe, and at the end of the year you can go over and hang out with your fellow racers without fear of getting punched in the face.”
