KA100 Makes WKA Competition Debut in USA

The KA100 engine has had its debut in American WKA competition. A field of 14 of IAME’s 100cc TaG engine assembled after Christmas at the annual Daytona Kart Week.

VemmeKart’s Colin Neal won the 20-lap finals on both days and now leads the KA100 Senior points over Blake Hunt, Brad Brittin and Abby McLaughlin.

The World Karting Association (WKA) Daytona Kart Week is three unique events in one at the Daytona International Speedway; the WKA Dirt World Championships (on a 4/10-mile oval outside turns 1 and 2 of the main NASCAR oval), the WKA National Road Racing Series (three days of racing on the 3.5 mile road course that incorporates the high banks of the speedway) and the WKA Margay Sprint Nationals & Manufacturers Cup (on the 1.1km kart track inside turns 3 and 4 of the NASCAR oval).

Part-time Indycar drivers Zach Veach and Gabby Chaves took the wins in the Margay Ignite Briggs & Stratton class which attracted 33 drivers.

The other classes and entry numbers were: Senior Yamaha – 14, Junior Yamaha – 21, Yamaha Sportsman – 23, IAME Senior – 40, IAME Junior – 40, Mini Swift – 45, Micro Swift – 21.
