A great weekend of racing at the mid year July 2 race meeting at Lithgow City Kart Raceway. The meeting was held with fine and dry weather but a little crisp to say the least.
Practice was held on Saturday followed by Combined District Kart Club’s AGM in the club house. All positions were filled and a fine dinner followed, provided by the club’s catering staff.
Sunday dawned fine but cold. One of the advantages the club has is wood heater in the club house, so drivers briefing was carried out in-doors for a change, ably conducted by Dave Laughton, Cheryl Harradine and club President Russell Becker.
Even though the fields were down, racing was fine and highly competitive. An outstanding performance by reigning club junior champion Peter O’Brien saw him first in one class and creditable fourth in the other class. Peter started off as a Midget and has graduated to the junior division with fine, consistent results.
In the senior classes, Tim Colombrita in TaG Light had a great day. Tim is one the karters who is a second generation racer at Lithgow , both his father and mother former karters and part of the CDKC karting dynasty.
