Canberra Kart Racing Club has advised the passing of former President Mick Guymer. Mick served as club President in 2007/2008. CKRC member, Andre Morse, said “Mick was a true gentleman, he gave up a lot of his time to club. He was a dedicated CKRC member and brought the club back from a poor position. He was always doing work around the track and gave up his own racing to make sure the races went on. He made the place a good place to come to. Mick was just a good bloke, a guy you could have a beer with and enjoy his company, a real genuine person who you could trust. He was too young (to die) at just 52 years old”. CKRC President James Ordish said “We thank Mick and will remember him for all his hard work and being part of shaping our club into what it is today. We also wish to pass on our condolences to Mick’s family.”

Mick’s funeral will be held at 11am this Friday July 7 at Broulee Memorial Gardens followed by a wake at his favourite pub, the Bayview at Batemans Bay.

Interesting read on eKartingNews – What is Wrong with Karting? “Nothing is really wrong with karting except that karting hasn’t changed when the world around us has. We live in a world where the largest generation by population has grown up in a throwaway verses repair world“. It’s a sales pitch, but there are still some valid points. The full article is HERE.
