Tassie Duo To The Fore

from Karting Tasmania

It’s been a long time since two Tasmanians have been at the front of a national grid, but at round three of the Australian Kart Championships at Monarto in South Australia on the weekend, we saw both Tate Frost and Lochie Dalton battle out front in the premier junior class of KA2.

Frost has been knocking on the door of a breakthrough result for the past twelve months after claiming pole in KA4 at round two last year.

Dalton, who is part of the Andrew Walter Construction Motorsport Academy, joined Frost up front after his best qualifying effort when he grabbed second place on the grid for the four heat races.

Dalton, who has been competing for the past two years at national level, showed the improvement required to run up front and after solid results in the heats, started the final off p3.

Meanwhile, Frost grabbed a couple of heat wins to start on the outside of the front row alongside Broc Feeney.

The final for Dalton was a little disappointing with a finishing spot of 9th. For Frost though, he was able to race hard and came out with a very impressive 2nd and now sits third in the national championship.

The next round of the Australian Kart Championships will be held in far north Queensland at the Emerald Kart Club in late July.
