Goodger Grabs All Powers Nationals Win

Off the back of his Australian Title success, last Saturday night saw Dylan Goodger broke through to win the All Powers Nationals for Speedway Karts at Mildura’s Olympic Park Speedway.

Having had no luck in previous four All Power Nationals campaigns, Goodger’s win was very satisfying, with the event regarded as one of the most prestigious shows on the Speedway Kart calendar.

Starting out of position four for the 30-lap feature race aboard his 125cc Non-Gearbox kart, the NSW-based racer settled into his position in the opening laps, before progressing into third by lap seven. Biding his time and avoiding any of the commotion out in front, Goodger drove a calculated race, later making his way into second place, when he pipped Jason Loft on lap 19.

One lap later, Goodger was able to get the better of Mark Burford to take over the lead and keep a steady pace out front, going on to take a comfortable win.

“I didn’t think I’d be able to able to top the feeling I had after winning the Australian Titles, but winning the All Power Nationals is very special in its own way,” commented Goodger.

“Being open to all types of Speedway Karts, this event always attracts a massive field of drivers, so to have been able to go up against the best of the best and come away with the win is amazing.”

After taking out both the 125cc Non-Gearbox and 125cc Gearbox Australian Titles last month at Ballarat’s Redline Raceway, Goodger was in the best possible form heading into the All Power Nationals event.

Beginning his night in solid fashion, Goodger won two of his three heat races and finished sixth from the rear in the other, making him the third-highest point scorer heading into the Pole Shuffle. Goodger’s night then took a turn for the worse, when he fouled a spark plug, causing him to finish fourth, which would be his starting position for the feature race.

Making a few more changes to his kart, Goodger managed to maintain his composure and concentrate on the task at hand, resulting in a pleasing victory.

With the All Power Nationals having been his final 2016-17 season event, Goodger’s focus will now shift towards the 2017-18 season, where he will be contesting the full Legend Car calendar, as well as all of the major Speedway Kart events.

Goodger would like to thank the following 2016-17 season sponsors: CIG Racing (Glen Corish), Lightning Karts, VP Race Fuels, RF & DR Transport, and Killer Image. He would also like to give special thanks to his dad Ray, Jamie Kennett and Phil Clarke, and all of Goodger’s family and friends for their continued support.
